K          “Bonds do not lie.”

J          “Bonds do tell the truth.”

. . .

K          “There are elaborate mechanisms in place to slow or halt trading with merely a call from the Treasury to BlackRock and Vanguard.  ‘Mutual’ funds slipped fine print in their ‘Terms of Service’ to ‘gate redemptions,’ a euphemistic and obfuscatory way of preventing people from accessing their money indefinitely.  The vaunted President’s Working Group on Financial Markets d.b.a. the Plunge Protection Team is ready to intervene.  However, closing the banks is the big tell.  With that action, some folks will sense that there is something up and something going down.”

J          “Those in power have developed defenses against the tsunami.  The  fate of a Republic and the outcome of an election turn on  each citizen’s stock portfolio remaining at hyper-inflated levels through the election.”

. . .

K          “The e-mails are always the same one word: ‘When?’ with ever greater urgency.  ‘Later and then sooner.’”

J          “The can can still be kicked down the Interstate even longer without consequence.  Those in power are uncanny.”

When you are in a hole, . . . give some passing thought to curtailing the digging.

The Southeast Asian War Games (d.b.a. ‘Nam) had their soundtracks.  Today’s conflicts are no different:

Soundtrack for Iran:

“Time Is On My Side”  The Rolling Stones

. . .

Soundtracks for Israel and the United States:

“Nowhere to Run”  Martha and the Vandellas

“We Gotta Get Out of This Place”  The Animals

“The Gambler” written by Don Schlitz and sung by Kenny Rogers.  (“You’ve got to know when to hold’em, know when to fold’em, know when to walk away, know when to run.  You never count your money when you’re sittin’ at the table, There’ll be time enough for countin’ when the dealin’s done.”)

. . .

“We are looking for new creative and unconventional ways to pressure and punish Iran.”  An officer in U.S. Central Command’s intelligence branch wrote the message sent last Wednesday to a broad group of military analysts.
