What’s In A Name?  Medical School Monikers In 2032 (January 10, 2022)

J          “Mostly letters.  Occasionally numbers.  Sporadically symbols.”

K          “Over the decades, those who claim to be folks of letters like to use a single letter or two letters or small letters to be clever and relevant.  What about an admixture such as ‘T. s. Eliot’ or ‘e. E. Cummings’ to add gravitas?  Or one letter cum serifs and one sans serifs?”

J          “The University of Wisconsin-Madison Moderna School of Medicine and Public Health.”

K          “The University of Wisconsin-Madison Pierre Kory School of Medicine and Public Health.”

J          “Eastern Virginia Johnson & Johnson Medical School.”

K          “Eastern Virginia Paul Marik Medical School.”

K          “The winning side decides whose moniker is slapped on the dorm, the building, and the department.”

J          “That is the way it is always decided.  Almost everything never changes.”

. . .

J          “To the victor go the spoils”

K          “They are right.  It really is a war.  They also say that if you scratch a putative progressive, you will uncover an authoritarian.”

Careening Toward A Global Totalitarian Authoritarian Behemoth?  And Then There Is The Fed’s Self-Inflicted Great Checkmate. (January 3, 2022)

. . .

K          “2021 was worse than 2020.  2022 will be worse than 2021.  2022 may be a year of consequence in the ‘Post-Consequence World’ that imposes no culpability on the culpable and no responsibility on the responsible.”

J          “Not this year.  The system will continue to trudge and trundle along.  No one will be held to account.  Everyone in power is making money fist over hand.”

. . .

K          “With inflation inflating, the Fed’s self-inflicted Great Checkmate cannot be deferred.  If the Fed were stalemated, they could sit tight, but they are in check at this time.  If the fools at the Fed had any sense of etiquette, they would resign before being publicly checkmated or at least be honest with the public.”

J          “The Fed is playing a simple-minded game of checkers in an economy that is not black and red.  They have the one overriding move that can be taken at any time and taken over and over and over again.  They are able to print unlimited dollars.”

. . .

K          “The transition from the Pandemic to the Endemic is a political and an economic challenge, not an epidemiological problem.  However, there is no money in the early treatment and prevention of the Big C-19, so it will not be treated and prevented.  That reality cannot change without much more public awareness and action.”

J          “One word – Le Vaccine.  The Supremes will provide some guidance on Friday and in the coming week.”

“Regulatory Capture” and “Journalism Capture” (November 22, 2021)

Posted in Covid / Coronavirus, Newspapers, Press/Media, Vaccine on November 22, 2021 by e-commentary.org

. . .

K          “‘Journalism Capture’ or ‘Journalist Capture’ captures the phenomenon.  Pick your phrase, pick your poison.”

J          “They are just saying what needs to be said in the face of a crisis based on the best science.”

. . .

K          “I have rather liked the media’s general political bias to date.  However, the current propoganda is largely pecuniary not political.  The motivating factor is profit not principle.”

J          “They are just saying what needs to be said in the face of a crisis based on the best science.”

. . .

K          “I vowed if I turned on what I have been describing lately as National Propaganda Radio and the word ‘virus’ or ‘vaccine’ was spouted in the first sentence, I would switch stations.  They did and I did.  I gave them one more chance.  They did and I did.  I had to give them one more chance because this is America.  They did and I did.  I gave them one more chance because this is still America.  They did and I did.  I had to give them one more chance because this is still really America.  They did and I did.  I will tune in for a follow up in a fortnight but otherwise boycott the station.  No more contributions.”

J          “We are in a war.  The message must be uniform, unflinching and unchallenged.”

K          “And in a war, the first casualty is Truth.”

. . .

K          “‘Regulatory capture’ describes the phenomenon of government agencies, created initially to serve the public good, serving instead the interests of the companies and industries they regulate.  The practice, technically illegal, is a result of deliberate efforts on the part of the companies and regulators to co-opt the agencies.”

J          “Sounds like a conspiracy theory.”

K          “It is in fact a conspiracy fact.  Two or more individuals and/or entities are working in concert to promote the public bad.”

. . .

K          “‘Journalism capture’ describes the phenomenon of media entities, many created initially to serve the public good, serving instead the interests of the companies and industries they purport to cover.  The practice, technically unethical and likely illegal, is a result of deliberate efforts on the part of the companies and media entities to co-opt the media.  The media entities are so in debt to the pharmaceutical companies that they must perpetuate the propaganda.”

J          “We are in a war.  The message must be uniform, unflinching and unchallenged.”

According to the ACLU:

Far from compromising civil liberties, vaccine mandates actually further civil liberties.  They protect the most vulnerable among us, including people with disabilities and fragile immune systems, children too young to be vaccinated and communities of color hit hard by the disease.

Vaccine requirements also safeguard those whose work involves regular exposure to the public, like teachers, doctors and nurses, bus drivers and grocery store employees. And by inoculating people from the disease’s worst effects, the vaccines offer the promise of restoring to all of us our most basic liberties, eventually allowing us to return safely to life as we knew it, in schools and at houses of worship and political meetings, not to mention at restaurants, bars, and gatherings with family and friends.

Got D3 and Zn? (August 9, 2021)

Posted in Covid / Coronavirus, Vaccine on August 9, 2021 by e-commentary.org

Letter To The Editor

. . .

Vaccines are not enough.  Take care of yourself.  Vitamin D3 and Zinc sustain one’s immune system.  Discuss with your health care provider taking, say, 3000 ius of Vitamin D3 and 30 mg of Zinc regularly along with a balanced diet and vigorous exercise after a night of restful sleep.  Take Zn with a hint of copper (Cu) and an ionophore to get the Zinc into your cells!

We should create a contest to craft a catchy slogan like the “slip, slop, slap and wrap” campaign in Australia that encourages kids and adults to protect themselves against the sun and skin cancer.  However, northern folks need to address a lack of sun and thus a lack of vitamin D3.  For inspiration, think of the catchy first poem recited by some attentive seven year olds to their occasionally inattentive parents:  “Click It or Ticket”.  How about:  “Got D ‘n’ Z?”

Masks, Mandates And mRNA Vaccines: The Great Divide (May 24, 2021)

. . .

K          “A devoted masker in late January of 2020 no longer shares the same devotion in early June of 2021.  Much about the mRNA vaccines is troubling, very troubling.  Now that the government mask mandates are relaxed, public places are relaxing their requirements and letting individuals who self-identify as vaccinated to enter without sporting a mask.  However, my research suggests that many if not most individuals who have not had a vaccine are strolling insouciantly if not defiantly into public places without a mask.”
